Long Island Man Nabbed For Robbing Deli, Burglarizing Businesses, Police Say

A Long Island man who allegedly robbed a deli and burglarized two other businesses was caught by police following an investigation.

The incidents took place in Shirley and Mastic Beach on three separate dates in April, Suffolk County Police said.

Blaise Marckesano, age 38, of Shirley, was arrested on Wednesday, April 26 following an investigation into the crimes which began on Saturday, April 1, police said.

Suffolk County Police said on April 1, Marckesano used force and injured an employee of Parkway Deli & Grocery, located at 431 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, and stole beer.

 The employee self-transported to a doctor for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The next incident took place on Thursday, April 13, when Marckesano entered the American Legion Hall Post 1533, located at 110 Mastic Beach Road in Mastic Beach, and stole cash, police said.

He returned to the business again on Tuesday, April 25, and broke a window and stole cash,  they added.

The final incident took place on Friday, April 21, when Marckesano entered Home Depot, located at 399 William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, and stole assorted merchandise overnight, police said.

Marckesano was located by Seventh Squad detectives on William Floyd Parkway. He was arrested without incident and charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Three counts of burglary
  • Two counts of criminal mischief

He is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, April 27.
